Sorry, for some reason, my mail reader isn't threading this topic very well. I didn't see your message until after I replied :-)

BIND_PER_ELEMENT could work. I don't really like it because of the glDrawElements() call, which draws primitives from "elements" of the current vertex arrays. How about BIND_PER_FACE instead?
