I just blocked IP address 119.118.237.180, because it was hammering my webserver with bizarre traffic, requesting the same file(s) over and over.
I recall the VTP website was hammered by similar traffic a few years ago and ended up costing Ben a gigantic excess-bandwidth bill. I imagine this is not intentional, but probably the result of a batch WGET or FileZilla-like tool, combined perhaps with a poorly-operating proxy or firewall, but it left my webserver with hundreds of stuck Apache processes, and none of my web pages were accessible. Wang Rui, can you tell from your expertise who this might be? I'd like to get in contact with them and make sure they can get the data they need, without destroying my webserver. I don't want to prohibit batch downloads, but I do need to protect my system from being overwhelmed, either accidentally or abusively. -- Chris 'Xenon' Hanson, omo sanza lettere.
