My plan was to add support into osg::Light to manage to setting of osg_ uniforms that map to the original gl_ uniforms. I'm a way off implement this though. In the interim the best thing to do would be to use your own osg::Uniform attached to osg::StateSet as you would for other types of uniforms being passed into a shader.
