Its been quiet because there is, well... just lots to do on the
commercial side of things.
And that's Good!
I'm #1 advocate for all things open, cross platform and problem free,
so certainly count on my support to get ATI to shape up. However, my
daily life deals with Linux and NVidia and I've been happy and
productive with these environments. Mostly, I vote with my dollar by
making the choice of which product will give me the best results for
time and money spent when deciding which box to click on the on-line
marketplace. Frankly, I've not had problems with ATI... but mostly
because I haven't purchased anything ATI.
This was my position for a while too, until I was lured by prgrammable vertex shaders
on a laptop chipset (at the time NVidia was only offering a GeForce Go series that didn't
have much for programmability). Once I bought the hardware and found out how messed up it
was, I regretted the decision. :(
On the one hand I would very much like to see the competition continue
and am always dissapointed when one vendor succeeds over all other
vendors. On the other hand, I just don't have time to deal with poor
support and a non-committment to open standards.
Amen.
So, just to be clear, you do or do not want your name, company name, and or OSG's name
listed on the press release?
