I can confirm that ATI OpenGL dirvers bugs, expecially the spin loop wait on refresh that
either block paging or force one to insert waits in code, has caused us problems.
We are experimenting in-browser (ActiveX and Firefox plugins) use of OSG, to
distribute
on the web..... we can't UNFORTUNATELY forget ATI, due to wide diffusion
expecially on laptops, but,
for our machines, we try NOT to buy ATI for doing 3D... we use just some to find problems that
we usually do not see on other vendors ;-)
Exactly my position. Even if I avoid ATI, my customers don't always, which is where I
get drawn back into this.
We develop cross-platform, so even Linux support
is important, and, in our experience, is not very good either.
Thanks a lot
So, do you want us to list your name and company name? If so, please tell me exactly
how you would like it listed.
BTW, I'm very interested in your work on embedding OSG in ActiveX and Firefox browser
plugins, as I'm sure many here are. Would you be willing to share more info about that
with us?
