NO you don't need the libs for osgdb_*.dll as your not linking against them (Unless your compiling statically) , your program would not compile otherwise,  the DLL's are loaded dynamically by the OSG at run time. These DLL's do have to be in your path to be loaded by your application though, otherwise you will get an assertion with cannot find *.dll blah

Have you stepped through your code with the debugger to see where it is exactly failing, this should give you a clue as to what is wrong

Note the osg_viewer.exe will exit if it is not passed a model it can find and load on the command line

Best Regards

Sure, but to describe the functions inside of the osgdb_*.dll, we still need the corresponding osgdb_*.lib, no? On my project, it compiles and run but when it reaches a function described in an osgdb_*.dll, the program simply stops and returns... Any idea of the pathology?

Hi,

If you're refering to osgdb_*.lib files, then correct, those files are not in

the win32 installer.  The installer binaries are configured for plugin libraries

that are demand loaded at runtime using osgDB.

If you're trying to use statically linked plugins, you'll have to rebuild OSG

for that configuration; the installer does not address that use case.

Cheers
