I haven't heard of problems like you describe, I would certainly suspect a driver or build issue though. Do you have a stack trace? Do pbuffer and frame buffer RTT work? i.e.
osgprerender cow.osg --pbuffer
osgprerender cow.osg --fb
osgprerender cow.osg --fbo
Which select pbuffer, frame buffer and frame buffer object respectively.

Hello,
while upgrading my whole development-environment, I came along a strange
problem.
Build system: Recent Mingw / msys
Problem: all demos that use a FRAME_BUFFER_OBJECT crash
This occurs with CVS from today, Release 1.2 and Release 1.1 of osg.
With the binary-Build for windows all examples work fine ( 1.1 and 1.2),
so this is either a problem of my build-environment, or some stupid
mistake of mine, or it´s a problem that only occurs in the MINGW-Build.
It would be really nice if some other MINGW-user could tell me if this
is only a problem of mine, or if this is reproducable on other machines.
Examples that show this are osgdepthshadow and osgshadowtexture. (And: I
do no longer use a crappy ATI-card!).
Regards and thatnks for all help,
Andreas
