I refer the honourable gentleman to his comment of the 9th of September 2006, and I quote: "Then there are other languages Jave, Python, Lua, C# and all vying for attention of developers, we don't yet support these well. If we want to help these developers out then we need to embrace support for them much more emphatically." Seriously though, you're right, C# is the non-portable portable language, but Java has been around for nearly 12 years, C# less than half that. And MS have been open enough to create a publically available standard, which they adhere to themselves which is novel for them! Not that I'm a big Microsoftie (Linux is my OS of choice at home), but having wrestled with Java for a few years, C# seems much cleaner. And it's true, the Mono project doesn't have a C++/CLI compiler, but work is being done on creating one: http://www.mono-project.com/Summer2005#GCC_CIL It would also not hurt the OSG project to say that there's a .NET wrapper, even if it only works on Windows; don't forget Xine isn't available for Windows yet, so it cuts both ways (OK, they are of differnet magnitudes, but you get the idea). What I'm after for my tools is not portability (heck, some of the developers here would prefer to use OSX...), but rapid development and integration with a framework written by my American colleagues. I admit this is entirely selfish, but then OSG's roots are in Don's hang-gliding simulator and you Robert were responsible for porting it to Windows in the first place!
