Hi Eric, It looks like mipmapping is causing problems, the mipmaps are computed by the driver, which might also go some way to explaining why I don't see the same issues on my machine.
There is also a chance that the packing of the glyphs is to tight, such that adjacent glyphs are bleeding into each other. You you try increasing the margin using: osgText::Font::setGlyphImageMargin(int) First you'll need to get the Font, then set it up, the default margin is just 2, for large font resolutions this could well be too small, and a percentage is possible my more appropriate. When I originally wrote osgText I did consider using the precentage, but found the margin would pretty well so just stuck with it. Robert. On 4/25/07, E. Wing <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
I have a visual problem/bug with osgText. There are faint, but clearly noticeable lines around osgText characters. I am attaching a screenshot that shows the problem. I am able to bring out the problem under certain conditions. 1) At smaller and medium zoom sizes, the lines seem to appear. 2) At higher fontResolutions, the lines seem to appear. To help really bring out the effect in the picture, I bumped up the fontResolution really high to 400. It happens for multiple fonts so it isn't a font specific problem. If I reduce the fontResolution, the lines are less noticeable and if I really lower the resolution, I don't see them. If I zoom into a piece of text so it is really big, the lines seem to go away. This makes me wonder if this is related to mipmapping. My problem is that for my application, the 'normal' view perspective tends to be at just the right size to make this problem really noticeable. And my application supports extreme zoom modes so if I lower the fontResolution, text is really pixelated. I'm wondering/hoping you know what the bug is and can fix it.
