Terrorists infiltrated U.S. convoy into Baghdad's Green Zone

U.S. officials said three terrorists succeeded in breaching the
security of the area known as the Green Zone in Baghdad by posing as
members of a U.S. commercial truck convoy.

The convoy had arrived from a neighboring country. Convoys had not
been carefully screened.

Two of the terrorists were able to carry out suicide bombing attacks.
The third terrorist took a group of people hostage in a building
within the zone. However, he was shot and killed by a U.S. sniper from
a nearby building after a 10-hour standoff.

Meanwhile, a new terrorist group in Iraq claimed responsibility for
the suicide bombing of a U.S. military column in Al Habbaniyah on Oct.
20. The group calls itself Al Qaida of Jihad Organization of the Two
Rivers.
