  Al Qaida in Angola

Angolan intelligence officials said last week that Al Qaida terrorists
have been trying to enter the African nation, according to the
government news agency there.

Constantino Vitiaca, the director of information and analysis for the
Foreign Intelligence Service, disclosed the finding at a seminar last
week. Vitiaca said Al Qaida has attempted to enter Angola through
contacts with businessmen and Islamic non-government organizations.

The terrorists have entered the country with false documents and have
come from Libya, Morocco, Egypt, Sudan, Mali and Mauritania.

"Angola is vulnerable to the entry of this network and at the moment
it does not have the necessary conditions to control its long maritime
and territorial borders, which are used by these people," Vitiaca said.
