Yes, these large group experiences are one of the few tools we have that seem to have the potential for changing things at the level of society. We are trying to apply them here with the craziness that is developing in the wake of the WTC events.
One of the things that I have found is that the way to get people to attend is to invite them. And the people who can most effectively do that inviting are people that the people being invited know. For this reason, I usually work with a planning team from a sponsoring organization. The team can be a smaller group (less than 15) who represent the organization or community involved. These people will know who needs to come to the OS and will know how to approach them so they will come. After all, anyone who is not present cannot bring their wisdom to the process nor can they take away the wisdom that is surfaced at the OS. Kenoli
Dear Elena, I am keeping my eyes jealously on your activity from Hungary! Yes, I do think, that OS is the appropriate tool to democratize the ex socialist societies and experience that the old power based ruling models are survivig, first of all in the political life. All the target groups, you have mentioned in your correspondence (tax officers, local governments, etc.) are very much working on political logics, ten involvement, empowerment, cooperation. I would be happy to know, how are your efforts financed, since I have no possibility to do it on a charity base. On the other hand it is not only a matter of funding - I have offered on OS free quarterly for those who can not afford to pay for it. There is not as many enquiries, as I would have expected. I think our discussions might be interesting for the OS public, that's why I wrote here and not off the list.
