Kaliya-- In the archives for recent months, you should find a whole series of conversations on the subject of multi-lingual OS, as Lisa Heft was preparing for an OS conference which included five different languages and a number of participants who spoke no English at all.
I've worked with translators in various parts of the world. Biggest thing to remember is that everything will take longer. Second is that you need to speak briefly and pause, unless you have simultaneous translation. With simultaneous translation, I learned to work with one earphone on and one earphone off, so that if a participant spoke English, I would hear it directly. I really laughed at your comparison of OS (in any language) to the experience of watching documents projected on a screen! Projected Word documents is not my idea of High Learning!
