I have bought osmand+ just over a week ago, as well as the contours plugin, and the started downloading all the maps in Europe - but something has got corrupted on the way, it seems, because now it has started dying: sometimes the app freezes, sometimes it just disappears. At the moment I can keep it open for a minute, then it just exits abruptly. I saw a few messages while downloading maps, but they disappeared very quickly, so I didn't see what they said.
