How much RAM memory does your device have? Also, you can download tons of countries, but you may try to Backup them (disable) them in the Manage map files dialog. Only enable those you plan a trip to so that OsmAnd does not need to consider all the maps even when viewing some local region. Even skipping data that is NOT to be displayed has its performance costs (depends on algorithm).
