Thanks for the suggestion.  I might try un-installing Osmand, then 
re-installing.  I wonder about all of the favourites and recorded track and 
other gpx tracks and all of the my downloaded vector maps, can I save them 
to a pc, then later move them back over?  I guess that should not be a 
problem.
