My approach to navigation problems in OSM AND ...

1) Fix the underlying map as you are already planning to do
2) Make sure you have the OSMAND+ with OSMAnd Live subscription.
3) Usually within a hour or sometimes more after you update, go to OSMAND
and and select "OsmAnd Live". You should find your region in the list of
Live updates.
4) Select the region and press UPDATE NOW.

If all goes well the map has been updated and you will be able to use the
new information.

I have done some informal timings about how long it takes to get the OSM
changes into OSMAND+ (with Live):

map details: within an hour or so
navigation routing details: within 5 days

The five days above is only because it took me 5 days to check. It may be
much sooner, but then again, it might be variable.
