That's interesting.  On my walk, I set "Show along the route" to enable 
Favorites (but not POIs), but didn't get any proximity messages.  I just 
tried it again using Simulate navigation (on the phone, not a PC): same 
result.  Could your emulation mode example be using an earlier version of 
OsmAnd?
