We now have an almost working hda driver, but still some other cards needs it. And I definitely won't have a native driver for my ATI IXP chipset anyway. Now, depending on your OS architecture it will be quite simple or more complex. Having POSIX semantics (device files, ioctl...) will help quite a lot.
