Quoting oscar schneider <[email protected]>:
Hey,
I think the tmp/ subdir in the ossec dir should have "ossec" as group.
The tmp/ dir in the folder where your webUI is located should have
"lighttpd" as group and have chmod 770.
Maybe you just executed
"
6- Fix the permissions for the tmp directory and restart Apache (for
the new permissions to work)
# chmod 770 tmp/
# chgrp www tmp/
# apachectl restart
"
in the wrong dir (you have to do it in the dir where your web
documents are stored, subdir of the ossec wui, e.g. /var/www/
ossecwui/ ).
Kind regards,
oscar

Good Day All-
My sincere apologies, I know this topic is elementary but I have been
unable to fix this.
I have the latest Ossec 2.3 and WUI on a Gentoo box running on top of
lighttpd.
I have followed the instructions on the
WIKI:http://www.ossec.net/wiki/OSSECWUI:Install
And I am still getting an error as reported
here:http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg03767.html
These are my perms in /var/ossec:
drwxrwx--- 13 root ossec 4096 Nov 10 15:23 .
drwxr-xr-x 18 root root 4096 Nov 10 15:23 ..
drwx------ 2 ossec ossec 4096 Nov 10 15:23 .ssh
dr-xr-x--- 3 root ossec 4096 Nov 10 15:23 active-response
dr-xr-x--- 2 root ossec 4096 Nov 10 15:23 agentless
dr-xr-x--- 2 root ossec 4096 Nov 10 15:23 bin
dr-xr-x--- 3 root ossec 4096 Dec 10 16:36 etc
drwxr-x--- 5 ossec ossec 4096 Nov 30 15:05 logs
dr-xr-x--- 11 root ossec 4096 Nov 10 15:23 queue
dr-xr-x--- 4 root ossec 4096 Dec 10 16:36 rules
drwxr-x--- 5 ossec ossec 4096 Nov 10 15:44 stats
drwxrwx--- 2 root lighttpd 4096 Nov 10 15:23 tmp
dr-xr-x--- 3 root ossec 4096 Dec 10 16:36 var
Also added lighttpd to the ossec group.
Anybody on the list running ossec-wui on top of lighttpd with the
search function running properly?
Thanks,
SDA

Oscar-
Thank you very much for your help. As soon as I created a dir tmp/
under my wui dir in /var/www/ it worked. I appreciate your time in
responding to my dilema.
Although this isn't such a big deal shouldn't the install directions
state to create a tmp/ directory under the wui installation directory
to make i better understood, perhaps adjust the wui install script to
make this directory upon installation?
Thank you.
