Ø Could the issue be that I am using an incorrect SMTP Server? Have you checked with your company's IT guys?
I think you said that you could send email from a shell script. Right? In that case, you should be able to specify the SMTP server as "localhost". OSSEC will format the message, and hand it off to the local machine. The local machine will initiate the routing of the message.
