I suspect that there is no way that a mother who began losing a noticeable amount of amniotic fluid 2 months early could carry a baby full term. I would guess that the baby would have to be delivered (induced) within days (rather than weeks) of the mother beginning to lose significant quantities of fluid. Nowadays, there is a 50% chance of a baby surviving at 24 to 25 gestational weeks (usually considered the 26th and 27th weeks according to the LMP method). This is probably where your "OK" comes from, since a baby delivered in a modern hospital after 30+ gestational weeks has excellent survival chances.
