It would just be a bit weird in an average person - sort of
good that they are willing to do it, sort of odd that they are still
old-fashioned enough to want to, and symptomatic of a not entirely
good family dynamic.
In a politician, who made public on the record statements
about it, however, it says loud and clear 'I lie about things when I
think it is the right thing to do'. Haven't we already had enough of
that crap? It is the sort of thinking that goes straight to 'we know
the WMDs are there, so lets fabricate the evidence'.
That is if it true, however. It all seems very circumstantial to me.

There are altnernatives besides 'sbortion' or 'complex career
threatening cover up'. Such as telling her daughter that when you
screw up, you take responsibility. I take a very dim view of any
politician whose response to a family crisis is to start a cover up
with lots of lies. Because you just know they will screw up in other
ways, and try to cover up those as well.
In other words its all very well to talk about sticking to
her beliefs against abortion, but only if you don't care that she
doesn't have or doesn't stick to her beliefs against lying to the
public.
Of course, it is still unproven. And I don't think there is
much point in trying to work out whether it is or not from a few news
photos. But if it is true, it is a serious, IMO credibility
destroying, issue.
