thanks for your fast reply. The .geom file was produced or kept by OTB when 
applying the 'OrthoRectification' tool. I did the preprocessing workflow 
starting with an original WV2 scene as described in your cook book and in 
the following order:

1. OpticalCalibration
2. BundleToPerfectSensor
3. OrthoRectification

However, when comparing the orthorectified image with the preceding 
pansharpened image I can see not a single pixel of shift throughout the 
scene. Are you sure that ortho rectification can be done in the last stage 
with the OTB toolset?

Concerning the RefineSensorModel with manually picked GDPs a tool for 
manual GCP collection in Monteverdi would be very useful for any future 
version. Monteverdi1 already includes something similar with the 
HomologousPoints' menu entry but does not allow an export of the coordinate 
list in a format and coordinate system required by the 'RefineSensorModel' 
tool. So currently I have to do uncomfortable workarounds with diverse 
other software...
