Hello everyone! i'm an OT student here in the University of the Philippines, and sad to say that most people still don't know about OT. When they ask what i am taking up, and i'll say occupational therapy, they'll say, "aa! therapy! are you the one's doing massages, you know i have an aching back..can you massage that?..or is that PT?" It's funny however, once you explain it to them, they'll ask,"activities? nurses could do that also!" Occupational therapy here is still very much linked to Physical Therapy that in fact, for the board exams, both PTs and OTs take them together. The OT and PTs here are still pushing a law for separating them, as well as creating a board exam for speech pathologists.
Anyway, i would really appreciate if i could read more of clinical experiences from practicing OTs out there. I'm taking up my clinical training for this semester and i think it would also be better to learn from other practitioners. Thanks and happy OT month! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
