When working with students who return to the classroom for discussion once a week during Practicum experiences I've noticed similar discrepancies.  We spend over half of our time dealing with the students' conflict over the gap.  The students' view, after reading the most up-to-date literature, learning to apply OT practice models, and incorporating occupation into practice is that the practitioners aren't practicing OT.
