Hello Christi:

Thank you for your feedback.

I also think the OTnow.com site is good. But for the life of me, I don't
understand why it's membership isn't growing. There's only something
like 250 members and it my mine, there should be THOUSANDS of OT's on
this list.

Of course, my official State OT assoc's list serve has less than 100
members and it's "deader than a doornail".

It seems that many OT's just don't want to participate.

Again thanks for sharing and sorry for getting on my soap box, again!

Ron

CV> Hi Ron....

CV> I have always enjoyed reading the posts on this site....but this is
amazing...

CV> The site is demonstrating the critical thinking and resources
CV> that it takes to provide excellent services to a client in OT.

CV> I love the input from Suzanne and the video links are
CV> excellent....I have forwarded them to one of instructors and they
CV> like them very much...

CV> This sharing of information and years of knowledge is again amazing...

CV> Thank you...

CV> Hi Ron
CV> This collaboration is great. I'm so enjoying Susanne's coaching. I've
CV> checked out the videos and will pass the link on. There's nothing like
CV> living with a disability to understand how to work out the wrinkles. As I've
CV> said we deal with a different mobility difficulty but we are making
CV> accommodations all the time.

>>From susanne
CV> "Don't stem (press) on flat hands, but on fists or knuckles."
CV> Joan adds - It's a lot easier to learn to press up with closed fists if
CV> there is something in them (tubi-grip or rolled washcloth?) It seems to
CV> stabilise the wrists and helps if fingernails are not trimmed short. Don't
CV> worry about her having to keep track of two more pieces she'll be able to
CV> discard them after a while.

CV> My husband uses a tension pole with a trapeze and a grab bar for bed
CV> mobility. His is a commercial product but rope, PVC pipe and a skyhook make
CV> a good trapeze. A single point of attachment rather than two is easier to
CV> change direction with. Short lengths of PVC pipe threaded onto rope make an
CV> effective D handle. A rope tied to a bed leg or to both legs on one side can
CV> sometimes help. Knots tied in a long strip of old sheets can be easier on
CV> the hands when you need to pull hand over hand. Railings, grab bars, handles
CV> - get them thinking where they would help and then checking out garage
CV> sales, junk stores etc.
CV> Remember that all our commercial equipment started out with someone solving
CV> a problem and most of the someones were the ones with the problem or their
CV> families.

CV> Have fun, Joan
