Y not take an other server, setup a new OS then install the newest version of OTRS (2.4.4). Then make a sqldump and import the database into your new OTRS system. You can read in the "upgrade" manuell which steps are needed to update the database to meet the strukture of the newest OTRS system. Then just switch the FQDN of the servers and voila ;)
