Try zapping the P Ram ( Start up holding the Apple+Option+P+R keys until you hear two or three startup chimes.



Should I run 9.1 instead of 9.0?

Yes 9.1 is a more stable and better OS than 9.0.x
Or is the problem with my iMac install CD itself?

The may need cleaning with a soft cloth.

I used it successfully on my 5500 without this problem occurring though.
