Version 1.2 of ewrt/owfs was build with owfs-source checked out 6th Juli.
ow_2450.c had version 1.29, and there are actually some minor changes to the
newest cvs-version. It's some fix reported by some other user who had
problem with pullup or powerbyte on the 1-wire bus. Could this be a similar
problem you have? Do you have your Vcc connected to ground or +5V?

When you notice some strange behaviour, please look at the error counters
and send us a dump. Note that you have to move to the bus-path where the
1-wire adapter is connected.

> cd /var/1wire/statistics/errors/
> grep . * | grep -v " 0"
(This grep will be empty if you have started both owfs and owserver)
> cd /var/1wire/bus.0/statistics/errors/
> grep . * | grep -v " 0"
(This grep will show all errors from the owserver process and its adapter)

I have actually never tried any DS2450 myself, so I don't know if it works
100% with owfs.

Another reason to why I didn't like the ewrt-distribution, was that the
write-able flash partition was VERY small... The only way to increase it was
to disable some applications from the original flash-rom, but I can't do
that since people may have other needs then me. It's much better to use
OpenWRT where people could install packages they need for their router, and
I create working packages with fuse, owfs, rrdtool, temploggerd which is an
option to install for interested people.

Nice to hear that somebody else is using my Quickcam driver... :) Have you
any good tips on web-streaming software and scripts for it, please send me
an e-mail with your tips.

/Christian

This is an email mainly for Christian,

I have version 1.2 of the ewrt/owfs software installed on my wrt54g, I
have a dozen or so ds1820s on the bus and they have been working
beautifully for the last 9 months.

I recently added a DS2450 and got some strange problems. When I first
added it to the bus, it detected and I could cat the volt files and all
looked ok. After about 15min of being connected, the 2450 dissapeared
from the bus completely, no amount of un-plugging and replugging could
get it to reappear, I concluded that I had some how destroyed the 2450.
I then got a second 2450 and connected it with almost identical
results... I concluded I was either doing something horribly wrong or
there was a problem with the owfs on my router...

Next I connected both the 2450s to owfs on my redhat 9 box, they have
been working there for the past 5 days with no worries at all. This
points to a problem with the DS2450 implementation with the version of
owfs on the router. Then I rebooted the router which appeared to fix
things, but after the 15min, the 2450s just dissapeared again.

This leaves me with a few questions:

1. is there or has there been any known issues with the DS2450 code both
on the main distribution and the wireless?
2. Has anyone else ever connected a DS2450 to a wrt54g?
3. Christian, it appears you have moved away from the complete firmware
solution for ewrt/owfs and gone to openwrt and packages, what were your
reasons for doing so and would you recommend I do the same?

{
P.s. Christian, I have also been using your driver for the quickcam
messanger and I am very impressed with it. Thanks For your efforts!!

Andrew

The hierarchy is preserved. Each DS2409 has two subdirectories (in
addition to a number of other files) called main and aux. Those
directories in turn show the filesystem view of that branch. The
switching the the correct branch and all is done transparently.
