Thanks Paul for the reply.

It looks like I must have completely messed up my circuit somewhere as I
have a difference of 0.35V between 1-Wire data and ground in Idle mode!

I can't fail to get the DS1990A polarity wrong.  I ordered their sample
to get a reader and a button (albeit the reader is F5 and the iButton is
F3).  Looks like I need to rebuild the circuit!
