OK, so I was using the 25 pin diagram, and translating the pin IDs.
That didn't work.  Sadly, neither does the 9 pin one.  Same result,
0.35V between Data and Gnd.

The 9 pin one I have built on an breadboard first for checking, before
soldering.  Again it is picked up by OWFS, but the problem seems to be
in the circuit somewhere!

If anyone has ANY ideas, please let me know.  Otherwise I will just go
and buy the Maxim USB or Serial adaptor.
