Nope :( ... I was thinking about ONE master adapter controlling many floating 
(IR)
ow-client devices maybe mixed with wired ones.

Not a

master <-> ir <-> wired devices

but

master <-> wired devices
       <-> ir <-> <ir devices>
              <-> wired devices


when sending a presence query for example, I would like to be able to get
answers from both IR modules and wired ones, transparently.

An implementation example could be a room filled with small floating devices 
based
on a DS18B20 and a IR transceiver attached on them, and a master somewhere in 
visible
area reading them just as if they where on wire.
