I haven't been able to reproduce the crash...
# owwrite -s 3001 FF.710200000100/line16.0 test
# echo -n test > /tmp/1wire/FF.710200000100/line16.0
(Both works on my wrt54g router with whiterussian.)

# echo test > /tmp/1wire/FF.710200000100/line16.0
However: This gives me one garbage character since carriage return is
printed...
