Good to hear that it automatically starts now. I have no idea what it could be... I read some about freifunk, and they seemed to revert to uclibc-0.9.27 8th Aug 2006 to make it compatible to whiterussian rc5. Perhaps you had some old friefunk version which was created before that date?
