Okay, thanks for the info. I got the manpage from the website:
http://owfs.org/index.php?page=ds18s20

I thought of way to use them. For example I have my sensors
that I read in a loop for each run from the hub. I do have a
couple checks in each loop to see if delta from previous
read is larger than 10F and if temp read was 185F for
possible error trap. But some sensors require special
checks cause of what they measure. For example the
furance plenum can have a delta larger than 10F when
the heat is on, so I have to check it with a different trap.
Or the outside sensors could go below/above the in
house sensors.

With the templow/temphigh I could set each sensor
range and script just check against them. Instead of
having separate traps in the script. Just an idea I haven't
tried it yet, but might after I get my hvac control finished.

Hmmm, I set one DS18S20 where it should have set
off an alarm and never got an alarm directory/file. I also
noticed that the temphigh I set to 60F got changed to
59F later when read it. Templow stayed where set it.

Yep just tried it. Didn't happen until I went to the
uncached, there it said 59 when I wrote 60 to the cached.
Then went back to cached and said 59. Why does
uncached show 1 degree F lower than I set the temphigh?
And then when cached updates it gets same value.
