It basically sits across the pump motor and counts 60Hz line cycles. My OWFS box polls and stores the count every minute. Figuring the total running time (in seconds) is as simple as subtracting the beginning and ending count over the time interval of interest and dividing by 60. The only problem is when the power goes out and the counter resets... Haven't yet UPS'd my 1-wire bus!
