As a pedestrian owfs user, I would like to support the proposal that it should be made very clear very early that owserver is the way to go.
I used owfs directly for several months before slowly realizing this. Not so unexpected perhaps, the system is after all called "owfs", and "owserver" may sound like advanced use with multiple computers etc. In browsing owfs.org, a main problem for sorting out this vast amount information is that there is no revision date on the individual pages - one has to guess whether a page was updated in 2007 or 2014 - which is note easy for a novice. Another thing I missed was the possibility to easily comment: -- "I think there may be a printing error here" -- "It would be very useful for a beginner if the information "on ... page" was pointed to at this point." Such comments need not necessarily be visible to everybody - they could be open to a limited expert group to evaluate, to sort out noise - and it could perhaps be a basis for a FAQ.
