Refilling a toner cartridge is fairly simple. Most suppliers will give you a sheet explaining how to open the toner capsule and fill it. They even provide little funnels for you.
Most cartridges have a chip in them to record toner levels and they will supply a new one of those as well. hope this helps Dave -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]on Behalf Of Greg Keogh Sent: Sunday, 14 March 2010 09:55 To: 'ozDotNet' Subject: RE: [OT] Printer does not implement IDisposible David, the last time we refilled 3 colours in the AL-C900 I trawled the web and eventually found a mail only delivery company in NSW that charged about 3 x $100. That was the best offer we could find so we took it. I can't remember if they were genuine. A quick search reveals the price is still hovers between $100-$200. That refill kit you found is incredibly cheap, but I've never manually refilled a cartridge and the idea never previously crossed my mind. For the C534dn we must be looking at different things. All of the colour cartridges seem to hover around $260-$340 each. Gripe all you want - but consumables are nowadays a major part of a company's profit line. <shakes head> I thought programmers were taught to think outside the box. 'Profit' ... you mean this system was created to make money! I sit in the lotus position, meditate on my code and say "what box?". Greg Ps. I've also never had an eBay account, so maybe the time has arrived. I also have some partially broken late 1970s vintage Marantz Hi-Fi components that might be saved from landfill.
