Thanks Bill. That's interesting because my SSD is a GSkill Falcon which is basically a re-badged OCZ. If all else fails I'll try to play around with hot-swapping and possibly even try to reset bios to use sata as IDE rather than AHCI (so not hot-swappable).
Does anyone know the registry change I would need to make in Windows 7 to set it to IDE from AHCI after I change the bios setting? I remember I had to change a setting in the registry when I first changed the bios to AHCI.
