Bingo. Most SEO gurus I have seen in operation just apply an ounce of
common sense. The ins and outs of item one in your list are key - but it
doesn't take more than a couple of hours reading to know what meta tags and
shit are predominantly in use today.

Google Webmaster Tools is also excellent for telling you what you are doing
wrong. That + frequenting www.webmasterworld.com are key.
