Yep. Windows 8 is certainly not perfect. I added a desktop shortcut to C:\Users\<user name>\Recent to deal with losing “Recent Documents”, and pinned it to the start menu so it becomes a tile on the start screen as well. Probably gives you more ‘recents’ than you want though. Cheers Chris

I still don’t understand why Sleep/Restart/Shutdown is on the Charms menu, but I have to go to the Start screen to logoff/lock. Having all of those in the one place before made sense. And losing “Recent Documents” is a PITA Cheers Ken From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Fredericks, Chris Sent: Thursday, 9 May 2013 11:52 AM To: ozDotNet Subject: RE: Is Surface really failing? I remember MS getting grief in the trade press many years ago for having options to Restart/Shutdown Windows on the Start button menu – “Stop by clicking Start – really?” And I find a lot of the discussions today re the missing Start button and the Modern UI in Windows 8 reminiscent of the furore the introduction of the Ribbon bar in Office caused. We seem to have moved on from there, and I suspect we will move on from here as well.
