Surely the Obstetricians would have to accept the statistics (of the
presumably favourable outcomes) from the past two years at the
institution in question. Will they not have to accept that if they have
only just noticed then it has not been necessary.
At the country SA hospital (300 births a year) where I work suctioning
is no longer the norm, and has not been for a considerable number of
years.

PS, for our future reference we document the lack of suctioning by
writing "Nil resus" in our delivery book and of course the cassettes.
