Hi Donna
Your work sounds wonderful. The midwife in me has always wanted to do some
remote work with women, but my journey hasn't led me on that path yet.

When you say you are looking for models of care especially intrapartum, I am
not sure what you want. It seems to me that it would be wise to talk to the
women about the model/s of care they would prefer to sustain their cultural
and wise woman beliefs.

Safe practice seems very possible with midwives providing care for
indigenous women in remote areas, I am not sure of what backup systems you
wonderful midwives have out there.

You know it is quite possible that I really don't know just what you are
faced with and please forgive me if I am ignorant of the facts.

Would love to hear more and be of help if I can. Tell me what you are
currently doing, what you would like to do and what women really want. Also
tell me who and how things are controlled, what restrictions you may be
experiencing and anything else you choose to tell. Would love to hear from
some of the women you care for also.

Subject: indigenous birthing

I work in a remote Aboriginal community. We are searching for models of
care for indigenous women - especially intra partum - that incorporate
cultural and social needs, as well as 'safe' aspects of Western knowledge.
This can include overseas projects, but the most applicable would be
indigenous peoples within first world nations.
Looking forward to your reply
