Dear Tina,
OMIGOD! Your friend's story is my story exactly. (except
we haven't met, so it can't be me)Our children are even the same age! The
difference was my son never slept through, but for 5mnths after I went to 'sleep
school' we fought it out, me mistakenly believing I had to be consistent. (I
took it too far) When he was 10mnths old I gave up the hrs of patting and
put him back into my bed. I think I was so stressed and strung out, and
felt so bad about what I was doing to him, that for a long time I had to believe
(and tell people) that it had worked. After all, if it hadn't, what else
was left? If I'd only known then how little time we have them for I would
have done it differently. All 3 of mine, including homebirthed, still
breastfed and co-sleeping 4yr old Cassie begged for a sleepover at a friends
place, and mum and dad were left sitting alone wondering where there babyhoods
went. They had a great time.....
