Dear Jo,  I realise that you didn't say those words, but I must admit that the hackles went up at the back of my neck when I read the words that alluded to the idea -that women choose homebirth for the experience, not because they believe it is safer-. My experience over 20 years has been the opposite.  The cascade of intervention, infection, breast feeding difficulties because of inconsistent advice, separation from the baby for other than crucial reasons, babies being given courses of IMI antibiotics "just in case"etc.  I can see that you are a thinking woman, balanced in your approach, maybe the choice of words was unfortunate?  Cheers, Mary Murphy
