I would add that i believe most
women do choose homebirth for the birth experience, and not because
they think it's safer. Midwives may choose homebirth because
they/we think it's safer, but I'm sure that that knowledge isn't 'out there'
in the community.
Dear Jo, i don't know about most women but my
husband chose homebirth as his preferred choice saying that in his experience
( farming ) if you leave the mothers alone they mostly do ok!! For me it
was very important not to have any suggestion at all of "risk" or "what might"
plus i needed my Mum making muffins and a decent birthpool that i had free
access too. Pretty sound reasons hey?!!
