Hi Cheryl My experience was a bit different to Pinky's in that my son would sometimes bite if he was upset before I put him to the breast i.e. at the start of a feed not the end. After a couple of bites I learnt to calm him down for a minute or two before carefully putting him on. This totally solved the problem and didn't happen again.
My only experience with breast soreness was when I would get a blocked duct. I did find that it wasn't enough to just get Richard to feed and feed but also had to massage under a shower sometimes up to three or four times and eventually the soreness/lump would disappear. I feel I may have averted a few episodes of mastitis by doing this - just a bit of anecdotal evidence for you!
