Hi Cheryl,

I had recurring mastitis in the first 6 months of feeding DD I think I had it 5 times
and once more since, I also had many more blocked ducts. After a blocked duct or
especially after mastitis I often had pain in the breast like I was bruised deep
inside, which sometimes hurt more during feeds, this pain could last up to two weeks
after the original problem. Early on this meant that the breast almost always had pain
deep inside. DD is now 18 months old, still feeds 3 hourly round the clock and I
haven't had mastitis or the associated after pains for I don't know how long. I never
really got a diagnosis for the "after pain" but it definitely did seem to be related
to the blocked ducts and mastitis and passed as they did so I didn't worry about it
too much. I don't know if that helps.

best of luck
Jo
