Hi Denise,
The South Australian Nurse's Award is classified differently to ours in Victoria. The way I understand it ... the midwives in the group practice at the Women's and Children's Hospital are Grade 1, which is the normal rate for midwives working in a hospital but they have a permanent loading (I think approx 30%) which brings them to much the same rate as the NP in Victoria (approx $61,000/annum)
The midwives in the Northern Community Midwifery Practice at Elizabeth are employed directly by DHS and are paid differently. They can claim overtime and I think they are paid at Grade 2.
Roz Donnellan-Fernandez or Anne Nixon who are the midwives in charge of the new group practice at WCH could give you much more accurate information.
All the best,
Leanne.

Dear Leanne
Which Normal rate are the Adelaide MGP midwives on??
Do I take it from your email they are on less than the same as the Nurse
Practitioner which is Grade 5?.

Dear All, The new midwifery group practice at the the Women's and Childrens Hospital in Adelaide have negotiated their own annual salary which is the the normal rate with a permanent loading but they can't claim overtime at all. As autonomous practitioners I think that midwives working in a case load model should be paid the same as the Nurse Practitioner which is Grade 5. Leanne.
